What Is SharkMedia?
SharkMedia is an open-source, cloud based web service developed by Kaltura. It is designed to act as a platform to centrally manage all your digital media in the form of audio, video, and image files. Content uploaded into SharkMedia is automatically optimized for playback across numerous devices and can be made available within the Canvas Learning Management System, the SharkMedia website, and AppCentral.
There is no cost to you for the use of SharkMedia, and no file size limitation for uploading recordings into SharkMedia.
Who Can Use SharkMedia?
- Faculty & Staff: Faculty and staff have access to login, use Kaltura Capture, upload content, manage recordings, add them to Canvas, and AppCentral, as well as enable previous courses to appear in the student archives in AppCentral-SharkMedia.
- Students: Student access to to upload content will be available through the use of SharkMedia within Canvas courses. Students will also have access to login and view content within SharkMedia based on their entitlements to certain channels within the site.
- General Public: Anonymous users will have access to certain channels within SharkMedia that are made available to the general public. An example of such is the About NSU channel.
Terms And Conditions Of Usage
All content uploaded into SharkMedia must conform to Nova Southeastern University's Terms of Service, Information Security Acceptable Use Policy, and the policies and guidelines located on the Office of Copyright website.
